Italian Recipe Collection - Tiramisu
Combine these and set aside.
1 - 350 gr pkt savoiardi biscuits
2 cups of strong coffee
1 envelope instant hot chocolate mix
2 oz Kahlua or like liqueur (optional)
1 - 500 gr tub of mascarpone
500 ml whipping cream
6 eggs, separated
6 spoonfuls of sugar
2 tsp vanilla
chocolate shavings
Preparation
Beat egg yolks til light, add sugar and continue beating til fluffy
and
almost white. Stir in vanilla. Set aside. Beat egg whites until
stiff
peaks form. Whip cream til stiff. Combine all three mixtures with
mascarpone leaving about 1/4 of the cream aside.
Dip savoiardi into the coffee mixture and layer in a 9 x 13 pan
or a
trifle bowl. Top with cheese mixture. Continue repeating layers
til
finished, ending with a cream layer. Top with whipped cream. Sprinkle
chocolate shavings on top.
Refrigerate before serving.
